The last few months in summary;
Pubert moved out, lost his job, and is moving back in this week to continue to eat us out of house and home. ($160 for a month and a half worth of groceries doesn’t go far with man-children his age.) But I'm happy I'll see him more.
Gomez’s job has him gone about two weeks, home for a day or two, and then gone again. It’s been rough, but it’s a job, and it’s helpful with the grocery bill. Not great for a marriage, but considering all we’ve already had to deal with .. What’s one more hurdle? This week he's in London again. I get to go to Albertsons; I'm so excited I might wet myself I might just buy myself a Cadbury Egg.
Wednesday has been struggling with the M.H. Monsters. There have been lots of doctor visits, new medications, and some really, really creative and unhealthy activities .. But I think a good portion of it is due to the afore mentioned M.H., and the fact her daddy is gone so much. We’ve had several “Come to Jesus” moments, which is fitting, because she’s starting to think her mother is possessed. How else can I figure out all these fun things she’s doing without the help of voodoo and divine intervention?
(Here’s a clue; I have eyes in the back of my head, the memory of my own misspent youth, and the ability to track her text messages and online activities. If anyone really needs a word for it, call it magic. Besides, after the run-around Pubert gave us, there is little that gets by this old crow.)
OY. Kids. I should have had puppies. ... OH NO! Goats. I should have had goats! Much more entertaining, and you can eat the ones you don’t like, unlike puppies and kids - Unless you live in China, then all bets are off.
Speaking of animals, I’ve signed Wednesday and myself up to volunteer at the local humane society a couple hours a week. Since I’m allergic to cats .. And the small, but not insignificant fact I’m more of a dog / goat person, we’ll be working with the small dogs and puppies to begin with.
This could be dangerous. Thank God we’re renting, or I would have a million more furry friends by summer.
As for myself; I’m editing a book my brother-in-law wrote and am drawing all the pictures for it. While I do that I’m also starting my own little artsie-fartsie studio. I’ll be throwing clay, etching metals, and with a little luck, starting on my latest obsession, colored pencil drawings.
NOT SO FAST oh ye of the Crayola mindset, I’m talking REAL colored pencils! There is a local lady named Eileen who’s work and humor just fulfills that odd spot in my soul, and I’m hoping to take one of her classes in April. (I’ll probably have to prostitute myself to afford all the supplies I’ll need, but at this point ... Whatever.) I hope to have an Etsy store up and running soon. I’ll also need to work the local farmers market this summer, but hey, considering the crap jobs I’ve had to work in the past, it’s time I do something I actually enjoy. Besides, I’ve already got the “starving” part down, so the “artist” part isn’t such a leap.
I’m also working on a few novels and kids books of my own. They may never go anywhere, but it keeps me busy.
I’ve also been making cards. Lots of cards. Here’s a few.
Niece's B-Day

Friend's B-Day

Card I'm still working on.

Sister's B-Day
Pubert's Birthday Card. Was going for Steam Punk.
So that’s life in a nut shell. ... Which just totally gave me an idea for a drawing.
Oh yes minions ladies, I’m on one.
It’s about time.

I am offended!!!! I really don’t need anymore competition!!! lol ;) I think it is wonderful how excited you are about everything you are doing!!! I think it is fabulous. Get Prisma Color Colored Pencils they are the best, or at least my favorite. Go to Acmoore they usually sell single pencils that way you can try them out. If you like them go on eBay and see if you can find one of the large sets. They are usually a couple of hundred dollars from the store or ASW but you might find a great deal on there. Then you have a complete set. You might never use all of the colors but at least you have them. Then what I do when a pencil starts to disappear is I go onto ASW and by the single pencils, it is economic.
ReplyDeleteOne of my dreams is to illustrate a children’s book. I think it is awesome you are doing that! Cute cards!

Love your cards! Once you're up on Etsy come find me - we'll be Etsy friends :-)
ReplyDeleteBefore I had kids I used to volunteer at an animal shelter once a week during my work lunch break. It was only a block from my office, so I'd just walk over. It was fun :-)
"and you can eat the ones you don’t like..." LMAO! Spoken like a true carnivore at heart! (I was raised on goat milk, have I mentioned that?) Holy sheeet do you have your project pants on!! Alice has been in your ear for sure...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the long distance job thing--it's horrible. (you got yourself a good battery operated man, right?)
And the butterfly card is my favorite; the cherry blossoms are lovely, but my husband calls me butterfly. *dopey smile*
Smooches
Good for you and Wednesday to be volunteering at the humane society that is great! My dad does a horse training at a horse shelter and MAN does it take a lot of will power to not take them all home!
